Ⅰ. 阅读理解
We have always been interested in the moon. 2000 years ago, people already knew that the moon moves around the earth and where it would be in the sky at different times of the year. At that time, everything about the moon was learned by watching it carefully in the sky.
When scientists could use telescopes to study the moon more closely, their ideas began to change. They could see the moon was made of rocks. Most scientists thought moon rocks would be different from those on the earth. This was because they believed the moon had once been a planet that had been caught in the earth’s gravity millions of years earlier.
In 1969, moon rocks were finally brought to the earth and studied. Much to their surprise, scientists found that, except for water, the moon and the earth were made of the same things. Once again new ideas were needed for this new information.
After years of study, most scientists now think that the moon was once part of the earth. They believe very early in its history, maybe 4 billion years ago, something about the size of Mars hit the earth. This sent billions of rocks into space around our planet. These rocks slowly joined together and after many years became the moon.
In the future, even though our ideas about the moon may change again, we will still be interested in it.

Why does the sky change colors?
What is the sky? How high is it? What color is it? What birds can live above it? These questions are difficult to answer, aren’t they?
In fact, the sky has no color. Then why does the sky look blue?
We know that there is air around the world. When planes fly, they need air to lift their wings. Planes can’t fly very high. That is because the air gets thinner when they go higher. The same will happen to us if we go high enough. If we go up about 1,200 kilometres from the earth, we’ll find no air there. Some birds can fly into the sky as high as a plane, but they cannot fly or live without air.
Looking up above us, you will see the blue sky with white clouds. It is usually light blue. The color will be bluer when you see on the top of a high mountain. And you will see fewer clouds in the sky between you and the sun.
Sometimes the sky doesn’t look blue. When the sun rises or falls, you will see red, orange, and other colors in the sky. Such are the most beautiful moments of the day.
Who can see the colors of the sky high above the earth? The astronauts! They can see those beautiful colors of the sky from outer space. However, before flying into outer space, they sit in a spaceship high above the earth, and there is no air at all. The sky will be that dark and its color will be black.
Now you may understand that we see colors because the air scatters (使散射) the sunlight. Light travels through the air. Without air, there would be no light or colors.

1. Planes can’t fly as high as possible because ______.
      A. the sky is blue                      B. the wings are heavier
      C. the sky has no color             D. the air becomes thinner
2. When you stand on the top of a high mountain, you will see ______.
      A. more air               B. bluer skies             C. more colors           D. more clouds
3. In Huzhou, we might see many colors in the sky at ______during the day.
      A. 6:00 a.m.              B. 9:00 a.m.            C. 1:00 p.m.             D. 3:00 p.m.
4. The sky changes colors because ______.
      A. it’s colorful itself                   B. the world is colorful
      C. the sunlight has colors               D. the air scatters the sunlight

Life on Mars
I think living on Mars has some advantages. It’s really wonderful to live on Mars. Life on Mars is more interesting and more comfortable than that on the earth. We can go to online schools instead of real ones. We can also have more space. We have robots at home and they do work for us. The things on Mars are cheap.
But there are also some disadvantages. We will not be used to living there, so we may get ill from living there. And it’s very far from the earth. There is no food, water or oxygen on Mars. We will meet some dangerous aliens and it’s easy to float away on Mars.
What do you think of living on Mars?
